The 2014 Silverado, along with its sister, the GMC Sierra, has earned a 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

- Fully boxed frames
- Extensive use of high-strength steel
- Segment-exclusive safety features
