UPDATE : THE 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO IS AVAILABLE NOW!
The 2014 Silverado has made its first appearance at a special event in Detroit.
So far, people are clamoring about the sturdy new look while anxiously awaiting more performance details on the three new engines.
The new Chevy Silverado, which is the first major update to the Silverado truck since the 2007 model, received tweaks to the exterior, interior, and engine.
It also received significant upgrades to the chassis, cab, suspension, brakes, and steering.
2014 Silverado Receives New Look and Advanced Technology
The three new engines, called EcoTec3, are all aluminum will come in and will have the ability to shift down to four cylinders (cylinder deactivation) to reduce fuel consumption when high power is not needed.
Take a look at the universal features of all three new engines:
- High compression overhead valves
- Direct fuel injection
- Variable cam timing
- Cylinder deactivation
- Six speed transmission
“We believe these are the most technologically advanced engines ever offered in light-duty pickups, and they are 100% truck”, said small block chief engineer Jordan Lee.
GM North America President Mark Ruess also touted the truck’s sophisticated capabilities. “These will be the most technologically advanced engines offered in any light-duty pickup,” he said, adding “these are the most refined, best-engineered pickups ever”.
With a more aerodynamic design and comfortable and quiet cab, the 2014 Silverado is expected to make huge waves in the truck market.
