Buzz for the 2014 Corvette Stingray:

LA times LOGOThoughtful touches abound, like a fully customizable digital instrument panel and the small redundant climate control buttons for the passenger near their door.

All these changes make for an incredibly compelling sports car. The previous Corvette required some seat time to get comfortable pushing its limits; the C7 is ready to dance right out of the box.

AutoWeek LOGOIt feels adjustable on the throttle like many European performance cars; give it too much right foot and the rear end will come around quick, but this is the fun — not terrifying — and controllable type of oversteer enthusiast drivers covet.

Optional competition-like seats will debut when the Stingray convertible arrives in the fourth quarter of this year and will strengthen the driver-machine connection further; but we’re happy already.

cNET LOGOWith quad pipes lined up at the center rear of the car, the exhaust note was everything I would want it to be. From a quiet rumble at idle, it went to a snorting roar at maximum acceleration.

On a winding country road, the nose pointed precisely when in response to my turn input. On the cone course, the car rotated neatly on the turn apexes as I cranked the wheel around.

C and D LOGODirect fuel injection and new combustion chambers not only give new life to the small block, they also make the thing sound like the Battle of Gettysburg.

Considering the performance strides, the splendid interior, the Stingray’s screaming value, and its fun-to-drive vibe, here’s our Corvette report card: A+ for effort, straight As for execution

AutoGuide LOGOIf the question is: what’s the most performance you can buy for $50,000, there is no doubt that the answer is the 2014 Corvette Stingray.

The Z51, on the other hand, equipped with all of the must-have extras isn’t just the Vette we like, it’s what we think the Corvette should be…and if that costs $70,000, so be it. Even then, it’s still a bargain.

Sure, it will still do endless burnouts if you want it to. But with newfound interior refinement and up-to-date electronic features, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is now a more appealing and well-rounded choice for a sports car.
