The 2013 J.D. Power APEAL Study has three Chevrolet vehicles at the top of their segments, more than any other auto brand.

The Chevy Sonic (Sub-Compact Car), Chevy Volt (Compact Car) and Chevy Avalanche (Large Light Duty Pickup) all sit at the top of their categories.

Chevy Continues to Succeed in APEAL Study

Sonic Avalanche Volt

Top to Bottom: The Chevy Sonic, Avalanche, and Volt

This marks the 2nd year in a row that Chevy put three vehicles at the top of the study. The Chevy Volt has topped its segment for three consecutive years, while the Sonic and the Avalanche received the awards for two years in a row.

Chevy Volt: With advanced technology inside and out, the Volt is both functional and efficient. Volt drivers save on gas while enjoying an intuitive interior design.

Chevy Sonic: Drivers can get the Sonic in sedan or hatchback versions, giving versatility to this already popular car. The interior is comfortable and detailed, with plenty of power under the hood.

Chevy Avalanche: This outgoing truck is still one of the most popular, with a versatile design that goes from SUV to pickup in less than a minute.

About J.D. Power APEAL Study

The APEAL Study, which stands for Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout, uses data collected through surveys of real-world vehicle owners. Study participants need to have owned their vehicles for at least 90 days to be eligible for the study.

In a nutshell, the study attempts to gauge how satisfying a vehicle is to own.

The 2013 edition polled over 83,000 drivers between February and May of 2013.

The results help buyers make more informed decisions while also helping manufacturers and designers create more appealing and attractive cars, trucks, and SUVs.

For 2013, the study was updated to reflect current demands for new technologies and convenience. Based on responses, each vehicle was given a total score before being divided into specific categories.

The poll is based on eight key categories:

  1. Engine and transmission
  2. Ride, handling and braking
  3. Comfort and convenience
  4. Seats
  5. Cockpit and instrument panel
  6. Heating, ventilation, and cooling
  7. Sound system
  8. Styling and exterior

The rankings help buyers make informed decisions and help designers and engineers create appealing and popular vehicles.
